Some people want to make extra money. Some want to improve other people’s user experience. Some are just curious or want to share their opinion about a product or service. It doesn’t matter why you are interested in taking part in paid research: we want you to have the best possible experience.

People for Research are a specialist participant recruitment company based in Bristol. We find people just like you or your friends and family to take part in paid research up and down the UK. We work with a range of different research companies and organisations trying to make a change to their customers’ digital experience.

As part of our ongoing growth, we often ask the participants that have worked with us to provide feedback. Listening closely to thousands of individual opinions helps us improve and shape the experience we offer when recruiting participants for new paid research projects.

Taking part in paid research

Back in March 2015, we asked a lot of questions to the participants that had experienced our recruitment process in the past. The results were extremely positive, but we still held on to the constructive feedback provided by a smaller percentage of our users.

Over 99.70% of the people that responded to our questionnaire said the sign up process was clear. When questioned if the process of applying for research was clear as well, 99.15% said yes.

But let’s move away from the numbers and look at feedback provided by one of our participants, Tom Bray, who took part in research about music streaming in June 2015.

According to Tom, the entire process went exactly as anticipated. When asked about his expectations ahead of participating in research, Tom said:

“I thought it was going to be them wanting my feedback on an app they were developing, and if I could help out in any way to improve it then that would be great. It was exactly what I thought it would be, everything was very clear. They even made me a cup of tea.”

Still, the best thing for Tom was to get “£50 for just an hour’s work.” Making extra money is clearly one of the biggest reasons that motivate people to take part in paid research, as some studies can pay up to £100 for only one hour of the participant’s time.

But how did Tom find out about this opportunity? He had previously subscribed to our database and simply replied to one of our emails. “[People for Research] send me emails about all kinds of things. Some of them aren’t really right for me, but I stream music so I thought this [study] would be interesting.”

Like Tom, thousands of people on our database receive notifications when a paid research opportunity comes up in their city or matches their interests, but we also recruit other potential participants thanks to referrals. Almost 93% of the participants that replied to our survey in March 2015 said they would refer friends and family depending on the project.

Despite the positive outcome of this survey, we are still continuously working to improve our recruitment process. We will have great news to share in a few weeks, so keep an eye out on our blog. If you’re already a member of the People for Research family, you will notice great improvements in the way we share information about our paid research opportunities. If you’re not working with us yet, you’ll definitely change your mind.
